Agassi talks, too, of another of his soul-searing struggles: going bald.
His account of a failing hairpiece before the 1990 French Open makes it into the book, as does his “confession” to his first wife-to-be, Brooke Shields, that he wore a hairpiece.
Not even fame and fortune protects a person from the travails of losing their hair.
“It can be devastating” for people, said Peggy Thornhill, of Hattiesburg, Miss., president of the American Hair Loss Council.
“Only 10 percent of bald people don’t care. The other 90 percent do,” said Ken Taylor, who owns the Men’s Hair Center salon in Baton Rouge.
